Why Choose Us
Why Choose Gastrotenterology of San Marcos - New Braunfels?
It's easy to assume that all doctors and health care facilities deliver the same high quality medical services. In fact, many people just look at their insurance directory or go to whichever practice is closest. But how can you be certain you've chosen one of the best medical providers for your GI care? At Gastroenterology of San Marcos - New Braunfels (GSMNB), you can be confident you will receive premier medical care for all types of digestive system diseases and conditions.
We do Gastroenterology...period.
All GSMNB physicians are board-certified gastroenterologists: trained medical specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) and liver diseases. All of our doctors completed three years of GI specialization training in addition to an internal medicine residency. Gastroenterologists also receive intensive training in endoscopy, a diagnostic procedure which uses a flexible, lighted tube with a built-in video camera to examine the inside of the digestive/intestinal tract.
Numerous studies have shown that gastroenterologists perform higher quality colonoscopy screenings and other consultative services when compared to other types of physicians. Non-gastroenterologists are five times more likely to miss colorectal cancer during colonoscopy than gastroenterologists.
The amount of experience your doctor has treating certain conditions is a good indicator of results. In other words, the more experience, the better the results.
Annually, our 5 physicians, provide care to more than 15,000 people with digestive disorders and conditions, including hepatitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, abdominal pain, celiac disease, reflux disease and esophageal disoders.
According to the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, a physician should perform at least 100 colonoscopies annually. Every GSMNB physician performs more than 1,000 of these procedures annually. By following our own benchmarks such as adenoma detection rates, we continue to pride ourselves on offering the best care available to our patients.
To us, you are not a number.
In a time in medicine when payments are declining, demand increasing, and liability looming, many physicians are trying to just see as many patients as possible to make up for lost ground. At GSMNB, we believe that every encounter is an opportunity to heal, whether it be physically or spiritually. Your time is just as valuable to us as our own, and therefore you will never be "herded" in and out of our clinic like cattle. Medicine remains an art, and while some have transitioned to "color by number", we will continue to paint one canvas (patient) at a time.
